how did it just so happen that a world war took place in the very year that russell had attached so much importance to?

i realize that he expected 1914 to see the end of the world's governments, and of course that didn't happen, but it still seems to be quite remarkable that this war happened that very year ... a war that would later be construed to be the fulfillment of jesus' prediction in matthew 24:7.. the explanation given on the e-watchman site is that satan deliberately caused the war to happen so as to mislead jehovah's witnesses into thinking they had actually seen the fulfillment of bible prophecy, in order to make them think that jesus had returned invisably.. any ideas?.

My points still stand and stand strongly inspite of your attempt to evade them by simply trying to rebutt but it's the great e-watchman who says it (paraphrasing) :

Now for some serious answer: I find it no more than coincidental. There have been many dates before 1914 and many dates since that have conversely proved fruitless.

Here's an idea. Let's compare the other crackpot Nostradamus and see who was more accurate between the two.

As far as the book goes, I have not read it but I do know Jim Penton and have spoken with him over the phone (mind you it was over ten years ago). I know him to be a very honest person. I suspect that even if he was to critisize the WT for it's alignement with Hitler or it's anti semetic views he would not neglect to mention the rank and file who were victimized and mention them in a sympathic light. Penton's views have always been balanced and fair (which is probably why he did not last as a JW).

..or maybe Satan deliberately caused it to give some credibility to a drunken womanizer in order to trick millions of people into joining a cult which would destroy their families, discourage them from higher education and expose the children to abuse and mental cruelty.

I'm worried about our 8-year-old -- anybody got any ideas?

our 8-year-old son, jackson, is exhibiting the following symptoms:.

* disorganized (unfortunately, this has kind of been since birth but more pronounced now).

* hard to concentrate.

Could be anything from allergies to airborn molds to the (early) increase/introduction of testosterone ...could be anything.

I suggest you take him to a good pediatrician. If you do not have one get a referral through your local "Children's Hospital". Next stop will probably involve testing.

It could end up being something as simple as hormones (get him into extra sports during the day it will burn off energy and allow him to sleep right now he plays gameboy instead of physical sports). If he is not sleeping at night that would explain why he is tired in the day. Less TV less video games more physical activities.

If he is getting As then he probably does not have any learning disability so that's good.

Anyway, I would suggest professional help from his pediatrician as a good place to start.

recently i've been looking for the article where the wts chastised the rank-n-file witnesses by declaring that they "read more into it than what was said" regarding the year 1975. running a search on the wt cd brings up nothing.

does anyone out there remember any such article?

Thanks buddy. Ya I was just winging it until someone more qualified came along with the info. I got my info from CoC and actually I don't think he even mentions the Yearbook in that section relating to the half assed apology.

Hi PB. Blondie seems to be the expert in digging up this stuff and I am definitely not but let's see if this is of any help.

Try the July 15, 1976 Watchtower for a possible mention of failed expectations (my understanding is the WT refuses to accept any blame in this misssed date) BUT also compare that with the March 15, 1980 of the Watchtower (I understand from reading Ray Franz's description that the org is more forthcoming about their measure of fault in this article).

I hope this helps. I got these magazine references from Ray Franz's book Crisis of Conscience in Chapter 9 where he candidly describes the 1975 (false) prophesy as a formal inner circle participant at the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
